Chapter 01
When a chip is still repairable
The honest version: size, depth and location. A chip roughly under a quarter and a crack under about three inches is usually a repair. Once damage reaches the edge of the glass, sits directly in the driver's sightline, or has gone through to the inner layer, replacement is the safer call and we will tell you that instead of selling you a repair that will not hold.
Time matters more than most people expect. A fresh chip is clean. A chip that has sat through a week of Omaha temperature swings has collected dirt and moisture, and both of those work against the resin bonding cleanly.

How the resin injection works
We clear the break, draw the air out of it under vacuum, then push a high quality resin into the void under pressure so it reaches the tips of every leg. The resin is cured hard with UV light and the surface is polished back flush with the glass.
The point is structural first and cosmetic second. A filled chip stops spreading, which is the whole reason to do it. It will usually also go from obvious to barely noticeable, but any honest shop will tell you a repair improves the look rather than erasing the damage.
Chapter 03
Our credit toward a replacement
If a chip we repaired later fails at that same point, we credit the price of the repair toward your replacement windshield. That is the shop carrying the risk of the call rather than you.
It also means we have no reason to talk you into a repair that should have been a replacement, which is the incentive you want on the other side of the counter.
