Which repairs put ADAS out of calibration
Advanced Driver Assist reads the road through sensors, and the main one is a camera bracketed to the inside of your windshield. Move the glass and you have moved the camera, which is why a windshield replacement and a calibration belong in the same visit.
It is not only glass. Repairs that include steering and suspension, wing mirror replacement, and headlight replacement all change what a sensor sees or where it points. Any of those is a reason to have the system checked.

Static and dynamic calibration
Static calibration is done in the shop against targets set at measured distances and heights on a level floor. The vehicle tells the camera what a known pattern should look like from a known position, and the system corrects itself to match.
Dynamic calibration is done on the road at a steady speed on clearly marked lanes, letting the system learn against real road furniture. Plenty of vehicles need both, in a set order, and the manufacturer decides which rather than the shop.

Why an uncalibrated camera is a safety problem
A camera aimed a fraction of a degree off does not throw a warning light. It quietly measures the world from the wrong place, so lane keeping nudges toward a line that is not where it thinks, and automatic braking judges a closing distance it has slightly wrong.
ADAS exists to prevent accidents. A system that is confidently wrong is worse than one you know is switched off, and that is the whole reason we calibrate in house rather than sending the car on.
